Mrs O - Brilliant Homecare Assistant for HadiCare

As we step into a new month, we take a moment to reflect on the impactful and thought-provoking stories shared during Black History Month. Today, we are honoured to highlight the experiences and insights of Mrs O, one of our Brilliant Homecare Assistant’s at HadiCare, who plays a crucial role in providing support and care to our clients.

A Day in the Life at HadiCare

“I am a Care Assistant at HadiCare, and my role entails providing care and support to clients, while also building a trusting relationship with them. Each day is an opportunity to make a positive impact on someone’s life,” shares Mrs O, emphasising the importance of trust and connection in her work.

The Significance of Black History Month

“Black History Month is a time for us to spread awareness, celebrate, and support the black community’s traditions, culture, and histories. It’s a meaningful period that encourages us to connect with our roots and celebrate our achievements,” Mrs O expresses.

Experiencing Support and Belonging

“In my journey with HadiCare, I haven’t faced challenges related to my identity. I have an incredible support system at work, including my bosses and colleagues. They’ve shown me that we are a family, and they’ve never given me any reason to doubt that,” she recounts.

“Living and working in Leeds, especially after relocating from my home country, I anticipated challenges. However, the overwhelming support from the team and clients at HadiCare has positively shaped my sense of identity and belonging,” Mrs O adds.

Advice for Future Care Workers

“For black individuals considering a career in care work, my advice is to be open-minded, willing to learn, and never shy away from asking for support. Embrace the different cultures and values you’ll encounter, and be open to learning from each experience,” advises Mrs O.

Fostering Inclusivity in Home Care

“To create a more inclusive environment in the home care industry, it’s crucial that we understand and support the diverse ways people think and process information,” Mrs O said, highlighting the importance of embracing diversity in thought and perspective.

A Closing Thought for Black History Month

“As we bid farewell to Black History Month, I’d like to share a message of empowerment: never limit yourself. You have the potential to achieve great things, and your background should never be a barrier to your dreams,” Mrs O concludes, leaving us with words of encouragement and inspiration.

At HadiCare, we are grateful for the diverse backgrounds and perspectives that enrich our community. Mrs O’s story is a testament to the strength and resilience found in diversity, and we are proud to have her as a member of our HadiCare family.
